The Hickory Withe Diabetes Foundation (HWDF)
Is a pending not-for-profit, innovative organization dedicated to creating a new standard in the care and research services offered to people suffering with diabetes. We are boldly re-defining what diabetes care and research really mean from an alternative perspective recently developed through surgical weight-loss procedures. HWDF is committed to early diagnosis and exceeding the expectations and demands of our patients and their families by providing the highest levels of care not yet known. Patients and families will also receive the crucial and most up-to-date information about the disease to better provide treatment alternatives and put an end to this killer. Care integrity and excellence in research will remain the core of our business.
HWDF will seek to partner with a well-known medical university to advance the study of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in children and adults. The center's services and information will be provided through several vehicles including: physically at the Hickory Withe Diabetes Foundation located in Hickory Withe, Tennessee; online at Speak Diabetes .org and .com; print media including brochures banners, handouts; on radio and television through time purchased cable and doctor run radio shows.
With our dedicated and enthusiastic team of leaders, managers, and employees HWDF will provide premier levels of care to our patients in the following areas: initial evaluation, diabetes diagnosis and testing; management; wound treatment; dialysis and blood treatment; glycemic control; nutrition and physical therapy; bariatric surgery; treatment goals; intercurrent illness; hypoglycemia; immunization; cardiovascular disease; nephropathy and podiatry; retinopathy; and gestational diabetes. HWDF will provide all services currently required to treat diabetes, and newly created services as they become approved by the FDA and available.
HWDF has appropriated approximately 30 acres of land located along Highway 64, crossing route 196 in Hickory Withe/Eads, Tennessee, only 15 minutes east of Memphis, to begin building the initial state-of-the-art diabetes wellness plaza. Memphis is centrally located with mild year-round weather and well known for its medical community and as the nation's largest distribution center, making it an ideal part of the country for the center.
HWDF will make possible the IDEAL PATIENT EXPERIENCE.
